Aluminum alloy pipelines are widely used in industries such as refrigeration, air conditioning, chemical, and food processing due to their advantages of lightweight, corrosion resistance, and good thermal conductivity. However, the installation process of aluminum alloy pipelines requires special attention to ensure their sealing, durability, and safety. The following are detailed techniques and precautions for installing aluminum alloy pipelines.

1、 Preparation work before installation

1. Material inspection

Before installation, a comprehensive inspection of aluminum alloy pipes, fittings, sealing materials, etc. must be carried out to ensure that their quality meets the design requirements. The inspection includes:

Whether the surface of the pipe is smooth, free of cracks, pores, scratches and other defects.

Whether the size and specifications of the pipe fittings meet the design requirements.

Whether the sealing materials (such as O-rings, sealants, etc.) are intact and compatible with aluminum alloy materials.

2. Tool preparation

Installing aluminum alloy pipelines requires the use of some specialized tools, such as:

Cutting tool: Used for cutting pipes, it is recommended to use a dedicated aluminum alloy cutting machine or cutting saw to ensure a smooth and burr free cut.

Deburring tool: used to remove burrs generated after cutting pipes to avoid affecting sealing.

Expansion tool: used to make expansion ports for pipe ends, ensuring the tightness of pipe connections.

Torque wrench: used to tighten bolts and nuts, ensuring even force distribution at the connection and avoiding over tightening or over loosening.

Cleaning tools: such as dust-free cloths, alcohol, etc., used to clean the connection surfaces of pipes and fittings.

3. Design drawing verification

Before installation, it is necessary to carefully check the design drawings, clarify the direction, connection method, and support point position of the pipeline. Ensure that there are no deviations or omissions during the installation process.

2、 Skills during installation process

1. Pipe cutting and processing

Cutting: Use specialized cutting tools to ensure that the cut is flat and perpendicular to the axis of the pipe. After cutting, use deburring tools to remove burrs at the incision site to avoid scratching the sealing material or affecting the connection quality.

Expansion: For pipe ends that require expansion, use expansion tools for processing. The expansion angle and depth should meet the design requirements to ensure the tightness of the connection with the pipe fittings.

Cleaning: Before connecting, use a dust-free cloth and alcohol to clean the connection surface of pipes and fittings, remove oil stains, dust and other impurities, and ensure the sealing effect.

2. Pipe fittings connection

Sealing material selection: Choose the appropriate sealing material based on the properties of the working medium. Common sealing materials include O-rings, sealants, etc. Ensure that the sealing material is compatible with aluminum alloy materials and resistant to high temperatures and corrosion.

Connection method: The main connection methods for aluminum alloy pipelines include threaded connection, flange connection, welding connection, etc. Select the appropriate connection method based on design requirements and actual working conditions.

Threaded connection: suitable for small-diameter pipelines. During installation, ensure that the threads are clean and free of impurities, and use sealant or sealing tape to enhance the sealing performance.

Flange connection: suitable for large-diameter pipelines. During installation, ensure that the flange surface is flat and clean. When tightening bolts, use a torque wrench to ensure even force distribution.

Welding connection: suitable for high pressure and high temperature working conditions. When welding, specialized aluminum alloy welding rods should be used, and the welding temperature should be strictly controlled to avoid material deformation or porosity caused by overheating.

3. Pipeline support and fixation

Support point setting: According to the design drawings, reasonably set the support points of the pipeline. The spacing between support points should comply with regulatory requirements to avoid deformation or vibration of the pipeline due to its own weight or external forces.

Fixed methods: Common fixed methods include bracket fixation, hanger fixation, etc. When fixing, soft pads or rubber pads should be used to avoid direct contact between aluminum alloy pipes and metal brackets to prevent electrochemical corrosion.

4. Pipeline direction and slope

Direction design: The direction of the pipeline should be as simple as possible, avoiding too many bends and branches to reduce fluid resistance loss. At the same time, the expansion and contraction of the pipeline should be considered, and expansion joints or compensators should be reasonably set up.

Slope setting: For pipelines transporting liquids, an appropriate slope should be set to ensure smooth flow of the liquid and avoid accumulation or gas blockage.

5. Pipeline testing and leak detection

Pressure testing: After installation, the pipeline must undergo pressure testing to ensure its sealing and strength meet the design requirements. The testing pressure is generally 1.5 times the work pressure, and the testing time is not less than 30 minutes.

Leak detection: During the pressure testing process, use soap water or specialized leak detection solution to check for leaks at the pipeline connections. For the parts where leaks are found, they should be dealt with in a timely manner to ensure that the pipeline is leak free.

3、 Maintenance and upkeep after installation

1. Regular inspection

After the pipeline is put into use, the connections, support points, sealing materials, etc. of the pipeline should be regularly inspected to ensure that they are intact and undamaged. For problems discovered, they should be dealt with in a timely manner to avoid small issues escalating into major failures.

2. Cleaning and anti-corrosion

Regularly clean the surface of the pipeline, remove impurities such as dust and oil, and maintain the smoothness of the pipeline. For exposed pipelines, anti-corrosion coatings should be applied to prevent corrosion.

3. Temperature and pressure monitoring

For pipelines working in high temperature and high pressure environments, temperature and pressure monitoring devices should be installed to monitor the working status of the pipelines in real time and ensure their safe operation.

4、 Common problems and solutions

1. Pipeline leakage

Reason: Damaged sealing material, loose connections, poor welding quality, etc.

Solution: Replace the sealing material, re tighten the connection, re weld, etc.

2. Pipeline vibration

Reason: Unreasonable setting of support points, fluid impact, etc.

Solution: Add support points, set up vibration reduction devices, adjust fluid flow rate, etc.

3. Corrosion of pipelines

Reason: Environmental corrosion, electrochemical corrosion, etc.

Solution: Apply anti-corrosion coating, use anti-corrosion materials, avoid direct contact between different metals, etc.

The installation process of aluminum alloy pipelines requires strict adherence to design requirements and specifications to ensure their sealing, durability, and safety. Through reasonable material selection, correct installation techniques, and regular maintenance, the service life of aluminum alloy pipelines can be effectively extended, ensuring their safe and stable operation.
